Golf Digest’s new Top-100 list

A new report from Golf Digest has revealed the list of the top one hundred great golf courses in the United States.

It shows that the Coachella Valley 'Quarry' golf course that entered two years ago has moved up again - last year it was in the 88th position; while this year this has made it to the 77th spot.

One of Tom Fazio’s top golf courses in desert, Golf Digest ranking panel said that the developers of The Quarry hired Tom Fazio in early 90s with directions that he was to outdo his design of Shadow Creek.

Tom was savvy enough to ignore all those instructions, because he distinguished The Quarry site was better than what he had in Las Vegas, and is now on course to become a host on the PGA Tour, and possible venue for one of the majors if you look at the US Masters odds.

The Quarry stays behind the Double Eagle Club in Galena in Ohio and ahead of the Mountaintop Golf and Lake Club in Cashiers in the new rankings.

There are several people who do not believe in all these ranking because they believe that one course can make its way to the list simply by catering to the ranking panel members. Some courses do not make it to the list because simply because they do not cater to the panelists. Still, this is one of the most respect golf releases, and the panelists do their jobs quite seriously.

This year, there is an alteration in the top of the list as Augusta National took over the number one position from the Pine Valley in New Jersey. Cypress Point in Pebble Beach is in No. 3 spot, while Shinnecock Hills in New York is in the 4th position.
